Maggie mentions that she had an abusive father, but was a fighter and survived. At age 16, Margaret was diagnosed with brain tumor and given a 50/50 chance to live. She survived the cancer after three operations and chemotherapy. She has 3 holes in her head.
She soon grew tired of the solicitous attention offered to cancer survivors and disappeared from her hometown. By age 18, she was living with a man and started doing drugs with him. They were caught robbing houses to support their drug habits and she was sent to Framingham Correctional Facility for Women, where she found out she was three months pregnant. Her son, born in prison, was taken away from her shortly after birth. After she was released Maggie got her life together and kicked her addiction, but the invasion followed shortly thereafter and Maggie was forced to become a fighter, a role that she was naturally suited for.
Story[edit | edit source]
"The Armory"[edit | edit source]
Three months after the Invasion she joined John Pope gang. During her time with them she was raped by John's brother Billy Pope and Cueball, who brought her presents, thinking it made what he did ok. Pope later implies that he saved her life, and that she was a very different person while she was with him and his gang.
After Pope's gang had taken Tom Mason and his squad hostage, Maggie was tasked with escorting a hooded Hal Mason out of the hideout so he could return to the 2nd Massachusetts Militia Regiment with the gang's demands for releasing the remaining hostages. Hal attempted to disarm her, but Maggie demonstrated her skills as an effective fighter by quickly subduing Hal.
Later, when Pope goes to negotiate the hostage exchange, he leaves Maggie behind with Billy and Cueball to guard Tom, Anne Glass, and the members of Tom's squad. After Billy makes lascivious remarks directed toward Karen Nadler, Maggie looks angry and disgusted, and quickly and efficiently shoots and kills Billy and Cueball. She tells the others how she had been sexually abused by Billy and Cueball since first encountering the gang, noting that Cueball seemed to think bringing gifts made it okay. She then frees Tom's squad and joins them in attacking John Pope.
She joined the 2nd Mass as a fighter, originally responding only to "Margaret", and helped Tom return to the town where she had spotted harnessed children. Jim Porter, the head of the Massachusetts Militia, wanted to find a way to free harnessed children using a new technique developed by Dr. Michael Harris. The plan was to snatch Ben Mason but everything went wrong when Mike Thompson spotted his son, Rick, amongst the kids and ran to retrieve him. Hal and Karen attacked the Mechs and were knocked out while Tom, Mike, Maggie and Dai retreated. The Skitters executed the rest of the group that Mike's son had belonged to and set Hal free to tell the fighters the risk of taking a harnessed child, but they kept Karen.

She told him "Yes", every single day on herself, before she finally used it on Billy Pope. After Ben has his name pulled to be one of the two to fly the beamer, Maggie says one last goodbye to him before he prepares to leave, however the flight is quickly delayed by beamers.
"Space Oddity"[edit | edit source]portable harness farm drops in Chinatown, Maggie, Ben and Hal all flee together, running into a garage. Hal attempts to close the roller door, and Maggie and Ben both use their abilities from their spikes to jump to the top of a bus. Hal is glued down to the floor, and has to shoot the harnesses before they attach themself to him. Maggie and Ben come up with a plan, and use their strength to pull Hal out of the glue like substance onto the bus. The next morning, after the farm is destroyed, the trio regroup with the survivors.
Maggie listens's to Anne's speech about finishing the war, as they now have the upper hand. After Tom Mason arrives back, she listens to his motivation speech about getting mad, to find your warrior, and that now is the time for overkill. Maggie later joins team Alpha, led by Hal Mason, and the team has an easy time destroying some wild skitters and a beamer that crashed into a barn.
On the walk back from the mission, Maggie asks Hal about how he made sure Ben was assigned to a different group; Hal romantically declares, "I’m not letting you go," as he swoops her up in his arms. But as much as Maggie loves Hal in return, she reiterates, "These feelings for Ben, I can’t control them, and neither can you."
"Hunger Pains"[edit | edit source]
After the food is destroyed in Chinatown, Ben manages to find some tins of food that survived the blast and Weaver discovers they were made in a factory located not far from where they are holed up so they hatch a plan for Pope, Sara, Ben and Maggie to head out and try to scavenge as much food as they can.
Later, at the factory, they search until they find a supply of food unopened in boxes, and load it up in the back of a working truck. While loading the boxes, Sara speaks to Maggie about the love triangle, before they are locked in the cage. The two are locked in a cage, and Ben and Pope come to their aid but are soon held hostage by a girl, Caitlin. While they try and attempt to let them go, something behind a wooden door tries to emerge, but Ben and Maggie hold it closed, Ben mentioning that it sounds like a skitterized human. Maggie lies to Caitlin to let them go, and they drive back to Chinatown with Caitlin, the skitterized human and the food. When they arrive back, Hal Mason collapses from starvation.
During the night, Maggie visits Hal, and surprises him with a can of unopened pringles.
"Hatchlings"[edit | edit source]
Maggie tries to speak with Caitlin, however Caitlin is annoyed as of Maggie's lie, saying they can fix his brother. Caitlin thinks that Maggie only wanted to steal their food. During, Maggie is forced a connection to his brother Brian, and after they disconnect Caitlin pleads with Maggie to connect again with him. After Brian escapes and takes Caitlin, Maggie goes against orders and searches for her, along with Hal. After they find Caitlin, held by his brother Brian infront of an Overlord, Maggie connects with the Overlord and pushes Hal against a rock before she goes and speaks for the Overlord. After the Overlord through Maggie tells Brian to kill his sister, Hal runs up behind the Overlord and stabs him multiple times. When Maggie goes to shoot it, Hal takes her gun as they need answers from it, and points it at Brian. Brian extends him arm, takes the gun and shoots Maggie, however accidentally shoots his sister. Brian out of guilt shoots himself, and Caitlin soon dies after, with Maggie comforting Caitlin while she died. Hal and Maggie drag the Overlord back to Chinatown.
After bringing back a wounded Overlord, Tom knows that he needs to get information from him and that this will involve violence or other, however this isn't the problem, the problem is that the only way he has to communicate with the Overlord is through Ben and any pain he inflicts of the Overlord, Ben will feel as well. Ben comes up with a plan about how he can get into the Overlords mind without going through too much pain. Back when he had all of his spikes he had gotten into an Overlords brain, so he thinks that given the right amount of time he could do it again, however Maggie would also need to partake as she has some of his spikes. Tom, Ben and Maggie successfully get the information they need of where the skitters and hornets are being replenished.

"Respite"[edit | edit source]
Maggie arrives at the whiskey distillery with the 2nd Mass, as Daniel Weaver tells the 2nd Mass that they will be staying here for the next few days. When Maggie asks where Tom and Hal are, Anne informs them that John Pope took Hal captive and Tom is out going to get him back. Maggie and Ben tell them that they will get a truck and help find them, however Anne denies their request as they are the 2nd Mass' star fighters as of their spikes, and will need them in DC. Maggie later asks Anne if she can remove her spikes, as she needs her personal space and own mind, which the spikes are not giving her, but Anne denies her request, but tells her after DC she will, and it is to much of a risk to do the procedure in this moment.
Maggie goes behind Anne's back and Cochise tells Maggie that he will remove her spikes. Cochise successfully removes two of the three spikes, however the third reacts and begins to affect Maggie in ways Cochise does not understand. Cochise requests Anne to help, and Anne removes the spike before it does any damage to the spine. When Maggie awakes, Anne is beside her, and helps her to stand. Ben arrives later, saying that he gave a piece of himself to her, and she threw it away like trash. Ben confesses his love for Maggie, however she no longer has the same feelings. Maggie later greets Hal Mason when he arrives back to the 2nd Mass, and puts his hand on her neck, showing that the spikes are now removed.
Maggie arrives at the naval base with the rest of the 2nd Massachusetts Militia Regiment. During the night, Maggie sits down at the cafeteria, and while getting her first good meal in awhile Maggie and Hal have their first real conversation since she removed her spikes, before being interrupted by Zak Kagel, being invited to the 14th Virginia/2nd Mass get together. As the 2nd Mass begin to be arrested on Katie Marshall's order, Isabella is nearly assaulted by Zak, but Maggie arrives in time to save her, having a brief fight between Maggie and Zak. When Isabella tries to explain about Hal and herself, Maggie tells her that her relationship with Hal had been ruined long before Isabella arrived. She then insists that they need to remain together if they are going to survive this latest betrayal.
Isabella and Maggie find Daniel Weaver while attempting to fight the 14th. Weaver tells the two to bring numbers before fighting them. During the 2nd Mass' rescue of their imprisoned members who are about to be executed by the 14th Virginia, Maggie and Isabella appear as members of the rescue party and Isabella kills Zak Kagel to save Tom Mason. Maggie later comforts Isabella over the action, telling her that Kagel was psychotic and needed to be stopped. She is later confronted by Hal who had learned of her having her spikes be taken out. Before walking off, Maggie tells him that she had the spikes removed for him.
"Reunion"[edit | edit source]Maggie is approached by Ben Mason, and he voices his concern about the group not allowing him to continue getting answers through the Shadow Plane, as it is killing him. Maggie tells Ben even with the spikes he isn't invincible. Maggie later relives Evelyn off her first guard duties and travels with Matt Mason outside the base, checking the outskirts. They duo come across Alexis Glass-Mason who was last presumed dead, and Maggie immediately knows it is an Espheni decoy and aims her gun at the injured Lexi.
