Season 3 is the third season of Falling Skies. It was announced July 11, 2012 that TNT had renewed Falling Skies for third season that will air during the summer of 2013, with an order of 10 episodes. It premiered June 9th in a 2-hour premiere .[1]

The third season on DVD and Blu-ray was released June 3rd, 2014 in the United States and Canada,[2] will be released July 7th in Europe,[3] and June 11th in Mexico, Central and South America, and Australia.[4]

Significant events[]

  • Hal was an Espheni mole under the control of an Espheni eyeworm, which was removed with help from the rebel Skitters.
  • The new aliens revealed at the end of A More Perfect Union and their allegiances. They were eventually revealed to be allies of the humans, however by the end of the season the relationship is now strained due to the Volm's treatment of the human resistance.
  • Anne's pregnancy and the condition of her and Tom's baby. Alexis Glass-Mason, Tom and Anne's daughter is revealed to have alien DNA and some kind of accelerated growth.
  • The strength of the local Espheni and Rebel Skitter forces now that both of their leaders have been killed. Karen Nadler replaced the Espheni Commander, commanding the entire eastern North American forces, she was killed shortly after the arrival of the Volm reinforcements. A new rebel Skitter has taken over after Red Eye's death, and continues to support the human resistance and their new allies, the Volm.
  • The security of Charleston now that it appears a mole is helping them as well as Charleston's political stability. Hal's condition is eventually revealed, however a second mole was later discovered as well, further compromising Charleston until their discovery.

A revealed that Doug Jones will be joining the cast as the new alien species unveiled at the end of Season 2.[5]

Principal photography for the third season commenced on August 22, 2012.

On August 23, 2012, it was reported that House veteran Robert Sean Leonard and E.R. actress Gloria Reuben had joined the season's recurring cast as Roger Kadar and Marina Peralta.[6]

October 2, 2012, it was reported that 7th Heaven veteran Stephen Collins will be portraying Benjamin Hathaway, the current President of the United States, in the season's fourth and seventh episode.[7]

Jessy Schram dished in an interview that Karen is still alive & will appear in Season 3.[8]

It was revealed at Wondercon that season 3 will take place approximately 7 months after A More Perfect Union . It was also revealed that the 2nd Mass has stayed in Charleston and Tom has become the president.

Writer and co-executive producer Mark Verheiden disclosed that he would not return to the series for the third season.[9]
